K.Y. Chang 1948-2008

K.Y. Chang passed away on Aug. 3, 2008. He was an Electrical Engineer who worked in the Semi Conductor industry for over 30 years. For the past 12 years he worked for UMC at various locations in Taiwan, Japan, and Singapore. What many people don't know about him was that he was also a completely atypical asian father. He never told me that I had to get a 4.0 GPA. He never told me that I had to get 1600 on my SATs. He never told me that I had to be a doctor, lawyer, or engineer. All my dad cared about was that I was happy, healthy, and that hopefully I would go to college and make enough money to support myself. If things turned out better than that, so much the better.

My dad's favorite activities required balance and skill; so he spent his free time snow skiing, wake boarding, roller blading, and wind surfing. He loved eating pizza and beef noodle soup. The last time I saw him, he took me out for a day of windsurfing at East Coast Park in Singapore. While he easily glided around the harbor on his board, I crashed into a jetty and almost took out two other windsurfers because I didn't know how to steer. He laughed at me and tried to take pictures of my mishaps.

I miss you dad.

Why I'm Not Writing on Xanga Anymore

I used to think that BLOGs were a good thing. I thought it was a fun way to write about random thoughts off the top of your head and bounce the ideas off of other people. I thought it was a fun way to let people see into the silly section of your brain that you would usually never display or show people. I also thought it was a fun way for people to stay updated in my life. When I went to college, everyone told me I fell off the face of the earth. Well, now you can find me and read about what's going on in my stupid insignificant life.

The past few months, there has been a shit load of BLOG gossip and ensuing uncomfortable situations that left a bad taste in my mouth. Perhaps it's because I live in a small town and no one has anything else to do but nose around in other people's business; but, it seems like the more I write, more fights and icky stuff occur. Honestly, some of the situations that have been going on make me feel like I'm in high school again, "Nyah, nyah, nyah, he said this and she said that blah, blah, blah, etc. etc." WTF happened to simply confronting people about problems that they have with each other?!!! Whatever happened to simply saying, "Hey, what you said hurt my feelings can you please knock that shit off." Okay, I'm starting to rant now.

My whole point about this situation is that I refuse to contribute my personal thoughts so that others' have something to talk about. If I move out of this town, I might consider writing again, but until then, this is the last BLOG. I'm sorry that there will be no more high school diatribes, funny stories, or Tao of Wendy, but I've had it with all of the shit attached to these damned sites.

**Please don't leave comments. If you have something to say, you can e-mail/call me. Even if what you have to say is, "duckywens, you're a b*(&^."

It's official I refuse to write on Xanga anymore.

Mighty Max has been acting really weird lately. He meows all the time and doesn't shut up. He's also taken to hiding behind the cat scratcher and refuses to move. He's lost a lot of weight and no longer looks like a grey rug or a fat grey ball of fur. In fact, I can actually see his hind legs when he sits up now. Tueyjk and I think the grey beast might be depressed or sick.  Maybe we should take him to the pet psychologist and get him diagnosed for depression.

The Rule of BLOGS

1. Only write about friends in a positive way if you want to remain friends with them.

2. If you want to anonymously BLOG create a screen name that you NEVER give to anyone. In this manner, you can flame any of your friends and bitch about your life w/o hurting feelings.

3. Never bring up a topic unless you're willing to defend it and then eat mud.

4. Remember that everyone can see transcripts of what you've written. So, if you contradict yourself than your the fool.

5. If you choose to flame a friend/acquaintance/public figure, be prepared to endure the backlash that comes from writing mean things. Don't dish it out if you can't take it back.
